How to compress a PDF to 100 KB
- Drop your PDF into the box above. The target is already set to 100 KB.
- The tool lowers image resolution and JPEG quality step by step until the file fits, keeping text and vector graphics untouched.
- Use the page preview to check readability, then press Download.
Still too big? Turn on Convert images to grayscale under Advanced options. For black-and-white scans it often halves the size again.
Other common size limits
After adding a file, open Compression settings and tap 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB, 2 MB or Email 10 MB, or type any size in KB.
- 100–200 KB: government, exam and visa portals; scanned certificates and ID copies
- 500 KB–1 MB: job applications, university uploads, insurance claims
- 2–10 MB: email attachments and company upload forms. See how to compress a PDF for email
Why some PDFs can’t reach 100 KB
Every page has a fixed cost for fonts and text. A 1–2 page scan or form usually fits easily, but a 30-page photo report may not fit in 100 KB at any readable quality. Split the PDF, remove pages you don’t need, or ask whether the portal accepts 200 KB or 500 KB. Our guide to why PDFs get so large explains what takes up the space.
Safe for IDs and certificates
Size limits usually come with sensitive documents. Because the PDF is compressed on your own device and never uploaded, it never touches a server.
